What is a Geographical Indication (GI) Tag?
A Geographical Indication (GI) tag is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin. It certifies that the product possesses qualities, a reputation, or characteristics that are a direct result of that origin, assuring consumers of its authenticity.
While both GI tags and trademarks are forms of intellectual property protection, they serve distinct purposes:

Economic Boost for Local Communities
GI registration helps in the economic development of the region by promoting the unique product, creating employment opportunities, and often boosting tourism.
